Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

Q: What is UniversityLyfe?

A:

UniversityLyfe is an interactive online publication. Look at us like a magazine with local news, events, directories of local businesses, student organizations, nonprofit organizations, sports teams, and Greek organizations - just like a traditional magazine. However we also stream content added by organizations registered in our network as well as provide event coverage, and highlight popular news that people comment on.

As a Student whether you are in College or High School you can use UniversityLyfe to interact with your friends through our social-network, just like on Facebook; we offer a variety of more features though such as Personal Calendars for maintaining your schedule, Projects, and Courses - interactive pages you can create and invite friends to contribute to the Projects' goal or discuss things going on in your classes - among many other uses.

UniversityLyfe is what you make it, hence the concept for the name "Your University Life", or in other words, YOU put the Y in Lyfe.

Q: How does it work?

A:

Once you register for an account you can immediately start using all of the features and services for free. The Help Center (which you are currently at if you are reading this) provides quick tutorials on how to use the many feature-sets. The best way to learn how to use UniversityLyfe is play around with it!

Q: How do I use the Help Center?

A:

Using our Help Center is really simple - look for the keyword in your question or what you are trying to do in the Category Menu to the left and then look for the answer within the list of questions (FAQs)... Questions are answered with a tutorial basically or the information you desire. There are three main types of "answers" to a "question", for instance:

How-To's

If you want to know how-to add events to your Personal Calendar, click on the Calendar category then click on "How do I add events to my Calendar?", this will explain ALL the different ways you can do so.

Functionality

If you wanted to know what document types you can upload to your Documents folders, click on the Document category then click on "What type of documents does UniversityLyfe support?"

Can I's

If you could not figure out something, check for a "Can I" question under a topic. For instance - "Can I message someone a document?" Go to the Documents section and look for such a Question/Answer.

Q: What browsers are supported?

A:

UniversityLyfe is designed to be used in the following browsers:

Q: Finding Your School

A:

Finding your school is easy as typing the name in and selecting it from a drop down list. If your school does not load in the list of school's then no one has created a Community for it yet - once you register UniversityLyfe automatically will create a new Community.

1. Begin typing the name of your school, then wait for the loading icon to appear after you have finished typing the FULL name of the school. Once the list loads the icon will disappear and you can proceed to step 2. This normally only takes a second or two from the last keystroke.

2. A list of schools that match the text you entered will load - click on that school.

3. Once the list disappears and your school is in the text field, click Go.

4. You will be redirected to your schools' publication home page
